Launch of the Namelynx New gTLD Registration Service

The Internet has changed.

100's of new domain name extensions called new gTLDs will launch over the next few years.

It is now possible to register domain names such as:

Over 20 new gTLDs have launched since 3 Oct. 2013.

Each launch starts with a Sunrise period. This is a priority period reserved for brand owners to secure their marks before the extension is opened to the general public.

In order to register a domain name in the Sunrise your registered trademark must be validated by the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH).

You can validate your trademark via Namelynx. Email support@namelynx.com for more information.

Once validated you will receive an encrypted file called an SMD file, which will be used to process your Sunrise application.

If you do not have a trademark,  you can register your domain name during the Landrush (domain names that are sold at a premium price) and General Availability (open to all) stages.

To register your new domain names in one of the new gTLDs visit our website at www.namelynx.com/new-gtlds.

We will continue to add new gTLDs to our service as they launch.

The time is now to register your new domain name.

Dropping the CO in UK

Nominet (the guys that oversee UK domain names) will introduce domain names directly at the second level making it possible to register domain names such as namelynx.uk.

Well, what happens if one person has registered namelynx.co.uk and another namelynx.org.uk - who gets namelynx.uk?

The shorter domain name (namelynx.uk) will be allocated to the co.uk owner. The owner will have five years to decide whether they want to use the shorter domain name.

According to Nominet "The move brings the UK in line with other large country-code registries, like Germany’s .de or France’s .fr.  A recent Nominet survey of UK business decision makers found that 72% thought direct ‘example.uk’ registrations should be an option, while only 2% thought they shouldn’t."

The allocation process chosen by Nominet will, no doubt, increase the value of co.uk domain name as those seeking a .UK registration allocation try to buy the corresponding co.uk before launch.

We will keep you updated as the allocation process unfolds. In the meantime, get your co.uk!!!

Register your co.uk domain name for £5.20 or $8.80.

.CD Promotion

The cats at Namelynx have scratched a few people to offer .CD domain names at the low price of $22.99 or £13.50. This offer is valid until 25 February 2014.

.CD is one of a few domain name extensions that can be used for a variety of abbreviations such as:

  • Cadmium (a chemical element)
  • Certificate of Deposit (a fancy financial term unique to the US)
  • Compact Disc (the shiny disk that replaced the cassette)
  • Civil Defence (when a government tries to protect its people from badies or bad things)
  • Corps Diplomatique (government reps in a foreign country)
  • Corporate Directory (list of people slaving away in a company)
  • Canadian Dollar (the country located above the US)
It is also the domain name extension for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The DRC has a population of 68 million making it the most populous French speaking country. More French is spoken in the DRC than in France, oh là là.

Register your .cd domain at http://www.namelynx.com/deals/cd

If you can read this, well done. Since you are making an effort to read this you may want to know that the descriptions in brackets, above, are not official definitions but created by the Namelynx team based on extensive random Google and Wikipedia searches.

If you cannot make it to Kenya why not participate in the mass migration of .KE domain names to Namelynx.

As an accredited Kenyan domain name registrar migrating (transferring) your domain name to Namelynx is FREE. We also provide a FREE local administrative contact for those located outside Kenya.

We are one of only two ICANN accredited registrars who operate in Kenya and are accredited with the countries domain name authority Kenya Network Information Center (KENIC).

In conjunction with KENIC we are offering a 50% discount on the 1st year registration cost for all .KE domain name extensions until 31 December 2013. Below you can find the promotion codes for each .KE extension:

me.ke = ME-KE-PROMO
mobi.ke = MOBI-KE-PROMO

To transfer a .KE domain name it must first be unlocked by the current registrar who will also provide an authorization code. This code will be used to transfer the domain name to Namelynx, which can be initiated at https://www.namelynx.com/secure/domains/transfer/.
